Rick Van Dalen — Treasurer
Rick Van Dalen joined the board as Treasurer in January 2016, a role he has had over his more than 40-year business career.
Rick has spent most of his years in financial management roles beginning in 1972 at McGraw-Hill in NYC. After leaving his position as Group Controller for McGraw-Hill’s Higher Education and Professional Publishing Group, Rick started a number of new businesses in the area of warehousing, accounting and financial systems. One Company, Pegasus Publishing Systems, grew into one of the largest accounting systems used in the publishing and subscription industry. After selling Pegasus, Rick acquired the Chilton Company, the leading publisher of automotive repair manuals, from the Disney Corporation. The Chilton library was then digitized and sold to an Internet company in 2002. Rick then joined Holt, Rinehart and Winston as Vice-President of Finance and Operations where he remained until 2004 when he retired.
Since being retired, Rick, in true entrepreneurial spirit, has been involved with designing online educational software and acquired the Vistas at Lake Travis properties from Toll Brothers in 2008 during the housing crash and sold out the project within 3 years.
Rick is active in church and with other veteran associations. He is currently on the finance committee for The Lakeway Church and has worked with the Honor Flight and wounded warriors during fund raising events.
Rick served in the USAF from 1965-69, then graduated from at Rider University with a degree in accounting and then on to Rutgers University where he received his MBA in Finance.
In his spare time, Rick likes to golf, read, travel and research young growing companies.
