Neighbor Helping Neighbor
Since the Bastrop fires of 2011, a key part of our mission has been to provide aid to horses and horse-owners during times of crisis. In the wake of Hurricane Havey’s historic devastation in South/Central Texas we are calling on our friends and supporters to help us respond shoulder-to-shoulder with our Texas neighbors once again by providing equine aid resources where they are most needed.
The Immediate Relief Effort
Specifically, Restoration Ranch is working with local organizations and direct aid teams to supply hay, feed, horse care supplies and other urgently needed items to horse owners that suffered verifiable losses during the storm. Individuals and organizations associated with the East Texas Equine Evacuation/Disaster Relief Network are coordinating the rescue and relief response. We support them.
The need is immediate and urgent. Literally thousands of Texas horses have been evacuated and are currently housed in foster homes and at relocation centers that are laboring under the strain of providing care for these displaced animals.
Our team is asking for help to raise $4,000 to purchase a shipment of 462 bales of hay (at cost) for the horses from our hay supplier to provide to the relief effort. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.
Equally important is the recovery process that will begin once the floodwaters recede and life returns to the “new normal. “ Texas ranchers, farmers and horse owners will need short-term assistance in re-supplying and re-building their barns, fencing and pastures so that their animals can safely return home. In the weeks ahead we will need ongoing support to continue our efforts.
Please contact email@example.com to set up ongoing monthly donations that will be earmarked for this purpose or follow us on Facebook for more opportunities to get involved.
Other Ways to Help…
Our amazing sponsors at Wondercide Natural Pet Products have pledged to donate a portion of their sales (from now through Labor Day Weekend — 8/30/17 – 9/4/17) to support our local relief and recovery efforts. They are also donating much needed insect repellent and other natural pet products to the effort. Please consider making a purchase for your own pets in the weeks ahead and help the animals directly impacted by Hurricane Harvey in the process.
In Kind Donations
If you prefer to donate products or gift cards, we will be assisting Texas Lost Pines Riding Club in distributing in-kind donations and supplies. They are located at 186 Hwy 95S, Elgin, Texas. Please visit their Facebook page for a list of urgently needed items and drop off times.
